What the Specifications Mean in Practice

Our notes on reading these numbers — LiveInSmart guidance, not manufacturer claims.

• **Sensitivity 89dB** — each 3 dB more sensitivity needs roughly half the amplifier power for the same loudness. This is an efficient speaker for most AV receivers.
• **Nominal impedance 8Ω** — an 8-ohm load is easy for almost any AV receiver or amplifier.
• **Recommended amplifier power 150 ~ 300 watt** — a range published by Sonodyne, not a requirement to buy the largest amplifier. Room size and listening level decide what you need.
• **Frequency response 43Hz ~ 22kHz (-3dB) on axis** — the low figure shows how much bass the product produces before a subwoofer is needed.
• A specification does not guarantee a listening result — room size, furnishings, placement and calibration change what you hear.

Who Should Consider It

Typical uses for the IWO 912:

• Front, centre or surround channels where floor space is limited
• Media rooms that want speakers flat on or inside the wall
• Apartments planning wiring before interiors

When Another Option May Suit Better

You may prefer a different configuration if you have room for box speakers and want the most bass from the main speakers alone.

What Else You Need for a Working System

A passive speaker: it needs an AV receiver or power amplifier. A subwoofer is recommended for films. Final matching should be checked by an audio consultant against your room and equipment.

• Sonodyne IWO 922 — 2 way, bass-reflex on-wall/in-wall speaker for centre channel
• Sonodyne IWO 911 — 2 way, bass-reflex on-wall/in-wall speaker
• Sonodyne IWO 921 — 2 way, bass-reflex on-wall/in-wall speaker for centre channel
• Sonodyne IWO 812 — 2 1/2 way, bass reflex on-wall/in-wall speaker
• Choose a matching AV receiver — Denon, Marantz and Onkyo models with full specifications
