Sonodyne makes both. The right choice depends on whether you want surround sound with an AV receiver or simple stereo music with fewer boxes.
**Passive (Sonus, IWO, Micro, SIC):** multichannel home theatres driven by an AV receiver. **Active (SRP 200, SRT 4102/4101):** stereo music or cinema screen channels where each speaker has its own amplifier. **All-in-one (SAMA, Malhar G2, Bandish G2):** simplest setups with a TV or phone.

Neither is better overall. Active suits simple stereo; passive suits multichannel home theatre with an AV receiver.
It is possible with a processor that has line-level outputs, but most home theatres use passive speakers with an AV receiver.
