Interactive Flat Panel vs Projector — Which for Your Classroom or Boardroom?

We install both Interactive Panel and Projector systems every week across Hyderabad and Vijayawada. This is the honest, side-by-side comparison we give school principals, training-room managers and boardroom architects in our showroom — no brand loyalty, just what actually holds up in year 3.

    Where Interactive Panel wins

Interactive panels are brighter (400+ nits), work with the lights on, are touch-native for annotation, need almost no maintenance, and don't burn through lamps or filters. Image is razor-sharp edge-to-edge and there's no keystone or focus drift over time.

    Where Projector wins

Projectors give you a much bigger image for the same money — a 100"–150" image is trivial with a laser projector, whereas a 100" interactive panel is a serious capital purchase. For darkened auditoriums, cinemas and any image bigger than 98", projection still wins.

    Total cost of ownership

Over 5 years the interactive panel is usually cheaper: zero lamp replacements, minimal filter service, no bulb-degradation calibration. A projector needs 1–2 laser-engine services in the same period and a screen replacement is common.

    Our recommendation

Most modern classrooms and boardrooms under 100" should specify an interactive flat panel in 2026. Reserve projection for auditoriums, dedicated cinema and large-format installs.

    • Rule of thumb: rooms up to 30 seats and always-lit environments → interactive panel. Rooms above 30 seats, dedicated dim-able theatres, and image sizes above 100" → projector.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is an interactive panel really touch-based like a giant tablet?+

Yes — modern IFPs are 20 to 40-point capacitive touch with dual-pen and palm rejection. Multiple students or presenters can write simultaneously with sub-4mm latency.

Can we still use a projector with a whiteboard?+

You can add an ultra-short-throw laser projector with a touch-enabled writing surface — a good middle ground for large classrooms where a 98" panel is too small but a full IFP is over-budget.

What is the typical lifespan of each?+

Interactive panels: 50,000–60,000 hours (~10 years of school use). Laser projectors: 20,000–30,000 hours to half-brightness (~5–7 years of daily use).
