1. Screen size vs viewing distance
Rule of thumb: screen width = viewing distance ÷ 1.5 for cinema-style, ÷ 2 for casual. A 3m viewing distance = 2m wide screen (~92" diagonal 16:9). Bigger is usually right — most customers under-size.

A great projector on the wrong screen looks worse than a modest projector on the right screen. Six decisions get you from projector selection to a screen that actually complements the room.

16:9 for TV / streaming / most content. 2.35:1 (CinemaScope) if you're a serious film enthusiast and have a projector with anamorphic lens support. Fixed 16:9 is the safe choice for 95% of installations.
1.0 gain matte white is the correct default — accurate colour, wide viewing angle. Go higher gain (1.3, 1.8) only in bright ambient rooms and accept narrower viewing cone. ALR (ambient-light-rejecting) screens are the modern answer for lit rooms — pair only with matched throw distance.
Fixed frame: best image quality, cinema look, needs a dedicated wall — go here if the room is theatre-only. Motorised: retracts when not in use, ideal for multi-purpose rooms — some tension quality trade-off. Manual / tripod: temporary or portable use only.
Grey (0.8–1.0 gain) for dark-room true black. Matte white 1.0 for balanced use. ALR / CLR (ceiling-light-rejecting) for lit rooms with UST projectors. Never buy generic PVC blackout cloth — you will notice hotspots.
Elite ProAV for value, Grandview for motorised & tab-tensioned, Stewart Filmscreen for reference-grade cinema. Skip no-name Amazon screens for anything above 100" — cabinet warp is a common problem.

Yes — a proper screen preserves contrast, blocks side-light reflection and delivers a uniform surface. A white wall loses 30–40% perceived contrast.
Depends on projector's throw ratio and your seating distance. Share room dimensions with us and we return a matched projector + screen recommendation.
UST + ALR screen is best if your only seating is 3m or less from the wall and the room is lit. Standard long-throw + fixed screen is best for dedicated dark theatre rooms above 3m throw.
