How to Choose an LED Video Wall — Sizing, Pixel Pitch, Cost

Buying an LED wall is not like buying a TV. Get pixel pitch or aspect ratio wrong and the whole install is compromised. This is the exact 6-step framework we use with every client — free to reuse.

Step 1 — Measure the viewing distance

Minimum viewing distance in metres = pixel pitch in mm. If your closest viewer is 2m away, you need at least P2.0 for a sharp image. Anything coarser (P2.5, P3.0) will look pixelated up close.

Step 2 — Set the physical size and aspect ratio

LED cabinets come in fixed sizes (typically 500×500mm). Design the wall as a multiple of the cabinet — 3×2 cabinets = 1500×1000mm, 4×3 = 2000×1500mm. Match aspect ratio to content (16:9 for video, custom widescreen for lobbies).

    Step 3 — Choose brightness

Indoor: 600–1200 nits is enough. Facing large windows: 1500+ nits. Outdoor: 5000+ nits with automatic ambient dimming. Under-spec on brightness and the wall looks washed out at 11am.

    Step 4 — Fine-pitch or standard

Fine-pitch (P1.2, P1.5, P1.8) is for boardrooms and premium lobbies where viewers stand within 2m. Standard (P2.5, P3.0) is for retail, control rooms and auditoriums. P4+ is outdoor only.

Step 5 — Mount and service access

Wall-mount is cheaper but service is front-access only. Free-standing frames give rear access — mandatory for walls larger than 4m wide. Plan mount type before finalising the space.

Step 6 — Video processor and signal

Match the processor to the wall's native resolution. NovaStar / Colorlight processors handle scaling, source switching, multi-window and daily-life reliability. Do not skimp here.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an LED wall cost?+

Cost varies significantly by pixel pitch, brand, indoor/outdoor and processor. We provide a written quotation after understanding your room, viewing distance and content — prices change frequently so we don't publish list rates online.

What is the lifespan of an LED wall?+

Premium brands (Samsung, Absen, Unilumin) rate 100,000 hours. Mid-tier brands rate 60,000–80,000 hours. Cabinet-level colour uniformity degrades earlier on cheaper brands.

    Do you provide post-install service?+

Yes — 12-month comprehensive on-site warranty plus optional AMC. Spare cabinets and modules are stocked in Hyderabad and Vijayawada for 4-hour response.
